After 18 months of working with Matt, I can honestly say that he has changed my life. I have been transformed from feeling like an unhappy, depressed pudding into a fitter, confident and more positive person not to mention the fact that I have also lost 35 lbs.

maureen pic2_artMatt's greatest attribute is his ability to motivate his clients through his unfailing cheerfulness and boundless enthusiasm, which is infectious. Even though I have reached my weight loss target, I intend to carry on the training simply because of how good it has made me feel.

Whilst I have been training, Matt picked up on the fact that I seemed to be having a problem with my sacro-iliac joint and I was referred to a chiropractor for treatment. This has since been rectified but if it hadn't been for Matt I would not have realised I had a maureen_after_1problem in the first place and may have needed a hip replacement operation without the treatment. Matt also identified a weakness in the rotator cuff of my left shoulder, which we are now working on and my strength is improving every session. I am now focused on my next goal of dead-lifting my bodyweight!

I would thoroughly recommend all who want to seize a new lease of life to sign up with Matt - it will be hard work [Matt will certainly see to that!], but the bottom line will be that all the sweat and hard labour will be thoroughly worth it.

Thanks Matt ! you've been a slave-driver at times, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world!

I think it’s fair to say that hiring a personal trainer was not high on my list of priorities. I was overweight, unfit and, having not long celebrated my 30th birthday, pretty unhappy with my life.

The first time I met Matt I knew that if anyone was going to be able to help me turn things around, it was him. His drive and enthusiasm were contagious and I felt a whole new purpose in life.
The 12 weeks that followed were incredibly hard work.
Whilst I sweated my way through the programme the difference, not only physically, but mentally was truly quite incredible. The 28 pound weight loss was also a major bonus.
Eventually, as my fitness levels increased, I began indoor climbing sessions with Matt which were and continue to be highly challenging, a little scary and a tremendous achievement.

I cannot stress enough, just how much having Matt in my life has made a difference. He never gives up, and pushes enough to get the results you want without making you feel that you’re a failure. His commitment and unfailing support coupled with his wonderful sense of humour has made it possible for me to change my whole outlook on life. I am fitter, healthier and happier than I have been in years and for that, I cannot thank him enough!

I have been seeing Matt regularly because I want to restore greater overall flexibility and stability to my body, and to improve my arm and leg strength. I have two replacement hips, one following a skiing accident, and some rigidity in my lower spine, so specialised knowledge is needed. Matt has met these challenges brilliantly: he is very good at pitching what he asks of me to be within my limits but also enough of a challenge to generate real improvement. As a result, we are making real progress. He is really pleasant and constructive to work with, friendly and encouraging when it is needed or deserved but never a soft touch. [I feel like adding here: But don't book in on Monday mornings when he behaves like a lean mean killing machine.] From seeing him in the gym I would say he is also very good at helping people without my specialised needs, and is clearly immensely fit himself. I can whole-heartedly recommend him.

Client Synopsis

Ellie is a dentist and had experienced a slipped disc and associated bad back pain after a windsurfing accident. After working on making her more "aware" of her core muscles, Ellie was able to use them to fully support her lower back. We began training in early 2007 and stopped when she found out she was pregnant in late 2008.

 

Since the birth of my son I have suffered from back problems including a slipped disc. After working with Matt on my core muscles I am delighted to be pain free and stronger than I have been more years. Not only that but I have toned up all over too, what a result!
