About Matt Mills
After studying Music, French, Literature and Dramatics, Matt decided to try something new and took a job as a Trainee Instructor in the Outdoor Industry. After 10 years experience in the industry, he was a qualified and experienced instructor of rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing and kayaking.
Then, in 2004, Matt realised his dream and qualified as a Personal Trainer. Building on the teaching and coaching skills that he had developed through his adventurous activity work, Matt spent a year working at a private gym and went on to spend 2 years at Virgin Active building up his client base and reputation before becoming self-employed and launching Matt Mills Personal Training in October 2007.
Further study
Matt then went on to study several different forms of massage therapy and can now deliver sports/deep tissue massage and perform advanced stretching and muscle and joint
release techniques which have achieved incredible and in some cases, almost miraculous results! Some of Matt's clients had suffered with muscular or joint pain for years before meeting him, some had even been diagnosed with conditions such as osteo-arthritis, herniated vertebral disc or been told that they need a hip or knee replacement. After as little as 6 sessions with Matt, examining the soft tissues (muscles) in minute detail (something which Chiropractors, Osteopaths, GPs, Physiotherapists and Orthopaedic surgeons do not do) some of these clients experienced dramatic pain relief and it became apparent that they had been mis-diagnosed. It would seem that their pain and dysfunction had originated simply from excessive muscular tension.
Now, through years of experience in the practical application of Personal Training and Massage Therapy together with countless hours of study and qualifications in: anatomy and physiology, postural correction, strength training, massage therapy and remedial exercise, Matt has worked with 100s of clients delighted with the results they have achieved.
